Do you Understand Your Obligations With Regard to Safeguarding Adults in Your Workplace?
7th December 2022
As an employer, you have a duty to protect the health, safety and well-being of your employees. Safeguarding training is a legal requirement for all professionals who come into contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
We are a government-approved training provider and all our courses are Ofqual and SQA regulated. Your staff will be provided with a recognised UK qualification allowing your business to legally comply with Health and Safety Laws.
Principles of safeguarding
An essential principle of safeguarding is that you work in a way which prevents and protects those you support. As an employer, you should be able to promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, identifying and protecting them from harm.
Our Level 3 Award in Principles of Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults course is fully regulated and approved by Ofqual, meeting HSE guidelines.
Understanding your legal duties
Responsibility when working with or in contact with children is huge. You have a legal obligation to recognise and report any concerns you have about an individual’s welfare.
In a vast number of roles, you may work around children. Even if you do not work with them directly, you must be trained in safeguarding. From teaching and coaching to driving a school bus and ancillary roles, you have a legal duty!
It is important to remember that it isn’t just children who are victims of neglect and abuse. The welfare of vulnerable adults must also be protected. You must be able to identify the indicators of abuse or neglect, understand how to make judgements and report allegations and complaints in an appropriate manner. Roles in which you are likely to come into contact with vulnerable adults include healthcare services, social work and taxi driving, to name a few.
It is vital that you take action now to enable all children and adults who you work with or come into contact to be protected.
Creating Awareness
It is incredibly important that every vulnerable child and adult is kept safe and this starts with creating awareness. You must be vigilant for potential signs of abuse and neglect, therefore Level 1 safeguarding training is recommended to raise the awareness of employees in any occupation who have contact with children or vulnerable adults.
Our Level 1 Award is the ideal qualification no matter your field of work. The course will provide you with an understanding of safeguarding which can be used in any instance where a person comes into contact with children or vulnerable adults.
Our courses can be attended as an open course, a distance learning course (virtual learning with an instructor) or in-house at your office premises to allow for increased flexibility to suit your workforce.
At Advanced Safety Group we provide nationwide training courses to ensure all your staff are adequately trained. Get in touch today or book a course now.
