4 hour – Level 1 Award in Awareness of Safeguarding

Course Overview

Please note this is a fully regulated course approved by Ofqual and results in a Level 1 UK / Level 4 (Scotland) qualification. As this course is fully regulated and meets HSE guidelines it allows organisations and establishments to fulfil their legal obligations in regard to their safeguarding duties.

This course can be attended as an open course, a distance learning course (virtual learning with an instructor) or in-house at your office premises.

This qualification is designed for any person, irrespective of the field that they are directly involved in. It provides an understanding of safeguarding which can be using in any instance where a person comes into contact with children or vulnerable adults. Be this in the workplace, care environment or activity group. The learner will be provided with the knowledge and skills to identify a safeguarding concern, record a disclosure and when/how to report to the appropriate person.

This qualification is invaluable in numerous settings and in many cases a legal requirement. Level 1 safeguarding training is recommended to raise the awareness of workers in any occupation who have contact with children or vulnerable adults. The following workers that need this training as a minimum: –

• Teachers, nursery workers, carers and child-minders.
• Doctors, nurses, paramedics and health workers.
• Social workers, council staff and immigration workers.
• Hotel staff, accommodation staff, hostel staff etc.
• Youth workers, activity leaders and volunteers.
• Sports coaches and teachers.
• Police staff.
• Church leaders, religious leaders and volunteers.

Learners will be awarded a regulated level 1 RQF (UK) or level 4 SCQF (Scotland) in Awareness of Safeguarding and will be equipped to respond to a safeguarding concerns in the workplace.

• Abuse and neglect
• Identifying concerns and disclosure
• Making judgements
• Reporting safeguarding concerns

Qualification:

Regulated 3 Year Ofqual Level 1 (Level 4 in Scotland) Award in Awareness of Safeguarding (RQF/SCQF)

Course Duration:

4 hours. Can be ran over an extended period of time (up to 2 weeks).
