1 Day – Level 3 Award in Principles of Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults

Course Overview

Please note this is a fully regulated course approved by Ofqual resulting in a Level 3 UK / Level 6 (Scotland) qualification. As this course is fully regulated and meets HSE guidelines it allows businesses, organisations and establishments to fulfil their legal obligations in regards to their safeguarding duties.

This course can be attended as on open course, a distance learning course (virtual learning with an instructor) or in-house at your office premises.

This course is designed for any person, irrespective of the field that they are directly involved in. It is particularly useful for a number of environments and in many cases a legal requirement. This course is the in-depth version of the ½ day safeguarding course and is suitable for anyone in a regulated role (DBS regulated). Please see below for a list of job roles where this course is particularly suited.

This course gives delegates the tools and knowledge to make a difference to a vulnerable person’s life, how to recognise signs of neglect or abuse, either by action or lack or action. The course also covers how to safeguard in everyday working and how to report cases and under what circumstances.

Roles when working/in-contact with children: –

• Teaching, instructing, supervising, training and coaching.
• Delivering care; including physically helping children, and also anything relating to mental health care, palliative care and any other duties similar to medical/surgical care.
• Providing advice, guidance wholly or mainly for a children’s physical, emotional or educational wellbeing.
• Moderating any web services that children use.
• Driving any vehicle in which children travel, such as a school bus, dedicated taxis service etc.
• Providing foster care, both publicly funded and privately.
• Workers in one of the following establishments; schools, pupil referral units, nurseries, children’s homes/centres/premises along with detention centres.
• Workers in ancillary roles that have contact with children such as cleaners, kitchen staff and IT staff etc.

Roles when working/in-contact with vulnerable adults:-

• Providing healthcare services.
• Providing personal care.
• Providing social work.
• Assisting with general household matters.
• Assisting with a person’s affairs.
• Conveying a person to a place of care, social activity, or work. Please note, all registered taxi drivers must hold a valid safeguarding course as they actively transport vulnerable adults on a daily basis (to/from hospitals, after late nights out etc).

Learners will be awarded a regulated Ofqual national qualification level 3 UK RQF (Level 6 Scotland SCQF) Award in Principles of Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults.

Qualification:

Regulated 3 Year Ofqual national Level 3 (Level 6 in Scotland) Award in Principles of Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults (RQF/SCQF)

Course Duration:

6 hours over 1 day. Can be run over an extended period (up to 3 weeks).
