HSE Inspections

Act now

It is vital that you act now to protect your employees from fatal lung diseases such as lung cancer. As an employer, you have a legal duty to put in place suitable arrangements to manage health and safety while complying with all regulations, including the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2022 (COSHH).

Despite 79% of lung cancer cases being preventable, it is the most common cause of cancer death in the UK, accounting for 21% of all cancer deaths. This can be avoided if exposure is adequately controlled through respiratory protection.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are carrying out targeted inspections on manufacturing businesses throughout England, Scotland and Wales to ensure that businesses have control measures in place to protect the respiratory health of their employees.

The inspection has a focus on operations where materials such as stone, rocks, sand and clay are used. HSE will be examining if businesses have put in place effective measures to control respiratory risks in the workplace.
