Course Overview

Cardiac arrests can occur when we least expect it. Heart and circulatory diseases account for over 200,000 premature deaths per year and if a defibrillator was made available / used effectively in combination with CPR many of these lives could be saved.

When a cardiac arrest occurs, it is critical that people react efficiently and effectively as this is crucial in saving a life. A casualty’s rate of survival increases significantly if an AED is available and there are people on hand qualified to use it.

This course is very hands on and enables the learner to use an AED with confidence and in an effective manner. In addition, the course also teaches basic life support including resuscitation which is another vital component of using an AED successfully.

Individuals will receive a level 2 (level 5 in Scotland) FAA RQF/SCQF certificate which is valid for three years. This course includes theory with a large number of practicals to ensure each learner is competent giving basic life support and using and AED when necessary.
