Course Overview

Cardiac arrests can occur when we least expect it. Heart and circulatory diseases account for over 200,000 premature deaths per year and if a defibrillator was made available / used effective in combination with CPR many of these lives could be saved.

When a cardiac arrest occurs it is critical that people react efficiently and effectively as this is crucial in saving a life.

This very practical course will give in depth knowledge and confidence to the learner in performing CPR and utilising an AED if someone has a cardiac arrest. The training itself will allow the delegate to become familiar with how to effectively perform resuscitation (CPR) and work an AED effectively which dramatically increases the chance of survival. Ensuring your staff are adequately trained in this regard helps to meet the duty of care you have to your staff, students, visitors etc.

Attendees require no prior first aid knowledge or certificates, however it is recommended by the HSE that this course is attended in addition to an Emergency First Aid at Work 1-day course for a more comprehensive understanding of effective first aid in an emergency.

Individuals will receive a level 2 (Level 5 in Scotland) FAA RQF/SCQF certificate which is valid for three years. This course includes theory and scenario training in CPR and AED’s providing learners with the skills they require to provide prompt, safe and effective CPR and AED use.
