1 Day – Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace

Course Overview

It is a legal requirement for companies/employers to provide a safe and healthy workplace for their employees (Health & Safety Act of 1974). It is essential that a company not only ensures a safe and health workplace but also that they have trained staff in Health & Safety procedures throughout the business. This regulated qualification will provide you with suitable, trained personnel and satisfies the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for both knowledge and training. This course can be attended as on open course, a distance learning course (virtual learning with an instructor) or in-house at your office premises.

This course provides an in-depth introduction to Health & Safety in the workplace and benefits all employees, particularly those who may be taking or wish to take up a health & safety role, for example as a safety representative within their business.

Successful delegates with be awarded a nationally recognised Level 2 (Level 5 in Scotland) qualification which satisfies HSE requirements for employers but also provides the basis to higher level training for the individual and career development.

Syllabus:

• The roles and responsibilities for health, safety & welfare in the workplace
• The value of risk assessments
• The process of risk assessments and what is required
• The identification of workplace hazards
• Controlling workplace hazards
• Procedures for responding to workplace incidents and accidents

Qualification: UK Level 2 / Scotland Level 5 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace

Course Duration: 6 hours direct teaching + pre-course reading depending on experience.
