Emergency Evacuation Training FAQs

Yes. Advanced Safety Group delivers emergency evacuation training on-site at workplaces across the UK. Delivering training at your premises allows evacuation procedures to be tailored to your building layout, fire safety systems and workplace risks.
On-site training helps staff understand designated escape routes, assembly points and emergency roles such as fire wardens or evacuation marshals. This practical approach improves emergency preparedness and helps organisations meet fire safety responsibilities and workplace safety compliance requirements.

Yes. Employers must ensure staff are able to evacuate safely under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. This includes providing appropriate training, evacuation procedures and suitable equipment where required. Staff must be capable of evacuating without reliance on the fire service.

The correct course depends on your building layout, evacuation strategy, workforce responsibilities and the equipment in place. Organisations typically require either operator training for staff involved in evacuation or train the trainer programmes to allow internal delivery. Training should align with your fire risk assessment and emergency procedures.

Emergency evacuation training is typically recommended to be refreshed every two years, although organisations may choose to update training sooner depending on workplace risk levels, staff turnover or changes to building layouts and fire safety procedures.
Regular refresher training helps ensure employees remain familiar with evacuation routes, assembly points and emergency responsibilities such as fire warden or evacuation marshal duties. Maintaining up-to-date training also supports compliance with workplace fire safety requirements and helps organisations demonstrate that staff are prepared to respond effectively during an emergency evacuation.

Training should be provided to staff responsible for assisted evacuation, fire wardens, facilities teams and supervisors. Employers must ensure there are sufficient trained personnel available to support safe evacuation of all occupants, including those who may require assistance.
